These steps use the built-in Windows VPN client. Use the server address, username, and password from your Wirelayer welcome email or control panel.

1. Open Start and choose Settings.
2. Go to Network & Internet and then open VPN.
3. Click Add a VPN connection.
4. Fill in the form as follows:
   • VPN provider: Windows (built-in)
   • Connection name: Wirelayer
   • Server name or address: enter the server address supplied by Wirelayer
   • VPN type: PPTP
   • Type of sign-in info: User name and password
   • User name / Password: enter your Wirelayer credentials
5. Click Save.
6. Back on the VPN page, select the new Wirelayer profile and click Connect.
7. If Windows asks whether the connection should be remembered, choose the option you prefer and continue.
8. Once connected, verify that your status shows Connected.

If the connection does not establish on the first try, open Change adapter options, right-click the Wirelayer VPN connection, choose Properties, and confirm these settings:

• On the Security tab, keep Type of VPN set to PPTP.
• Set Data encryption to Require encryption.
• Under Allow these protocols, leave Microsoft CHAP Version 2 (MS-CHAP v2) enabled.
• On the Networking tab, keep Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) enabled.

You can reconnect later from Settings > Network & Internet > VPN or from the network icon in the taskbar.

7. You can also connect later from the network panel in the taskbar by selecting the VPN profile there.

If the profile is created but Windows refuses the connection, open the connection properties and verify the following:

• In Settings > Network & internet > Advanced network settings > More network adapter options, right-click the Wirelayer VPN connection and choose Properties.
• On the Security tab, set Type of VPN to PPTP.
• Set Data encryption to Require encryption.
• Under Allow these protocols, keep Microsoft CHAP Version 2 (MS-CHAP v2) enabled.
• On the Networking tab, keep Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) enabled.

After that, reconnect from the VPN page or the taskbar network menu.
